The Smritivan Earthquake Memorial sprawls across 170 acres on the historically significant Bhujiyo Dungar in Bhuj, Gujarat — a site of both ancient fortification and modern remembrance. What was once barren hilltop has been transformed into a verdant sanctuary of memory, ecology, and renewable energy.

Inaugurated by Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi on 28 August 2022, the memorial pays homage to the nearly 13,000 lives lost in the 2001 Gujarat earthquake — while standing as a testament to the extraordinary resilience of the people of Kutch.
